After the diner Arthur Birling and Gerald Croft began to talk about politics and a possible war. Arthur believed that the German Kaiser only has a big mouth and that the world in 30 years will look much better. I think that’s an interesting fact, because even when the story plays in the year 1912, the story was written in 1945. So the author already knew that in this time two world wars take place.
Edit: I think the Author want us to think, that the people in this time never expect an ending of that style of life they are living in. Also they think a war is total implausible.(Words: 192)

Interesting reflection. So why do you think Priestley had Arthur Birling say these things? What does that tell you about how Priestley wants us to think about Arthur?
