The mysterious girl in front of the
Women's Charity Organisation (BBC 2015)
After Daisy Renton had to leave Millwards in January 1911, she was in the following time often in the stalls bar at the Palace music hall, a popular spot for street girls. In March she was wedged from a drunken, as she was noticed from Gerald Croft. He freed her and gave her a room. Slowly it was turning into an affair, Gerald often stayed away from Sheila this summer. It wasn't until September that Gerald finished this. But then Daisy also must move out of the rooms and must look now, how she comes through the winter with the money she saved during summer. She went to a seaside place for about two months, until she returned to Brumley. At the end of November, she met Eric Birling in the Palace bar. Drunk, he raped her and to make matters worse she gets pregnant. He regretted and he wanted to make it up to her. He stole about 50 pounds (today that would be several thousand pounds) from his father's company, but Daisy wouldn't take it. She went to the Women's Charity Organisation where Mrs. Birling was member of the committee. As Daisy was asking for support, Sybil Birling designated her as a liar and denied her request.

The last thing we know about Eva Smith or also Daisy Renton is, that in April 1912 she committed as pregnant women suicide by drinking a strong disinfectant. That was the end of the life of Eva Smith. (Words: 246)
